The quiet joy of offline simulators
Not every game needs to challenge you. Some evenings the best thing you can do is open a simulator and potter about with no stakes at all. That's where cozy sims shine.
Greenwild Farmstead is my current wind-down game. There's no energy timer pushing me off, so I plant a few crops, mend a fence, and set the phone down when I'm genuinely done rather than when the game decides I am.
The trick with these games is that the lack of pressure is the feature. If a sim starts stacking up urgent notifications and online events, it stops being relaxing and I move on.
Offline is almost mandatory here. A relaxing game that needs a connection to save your little farm is a contradiction, and thankfully the good ones know it.
